*[[ The arrival of Summer ]]*

It just happened when my neighbour, El asked me whether I was interested in adopting Kyle, the abused MS. I just casually told Garrie about it and he actually gave the green light! I was caught by surprise by that and was so happy! I quickly told EL that I was interested and hoping that I can pick up the MS asap (if not Garrie might used his infamous, "when did I said that?" statement on me.) However, there wasn't much news Kyle as they are still negotiating with the owner to let go. EL doesn't had much information as well as Kyle belonged to her colleague's auntie who felt sorry for the abused MS.

After a few days, I was thinking of adopting a mongrel instead as I felt that a young 3 years old purebreed will not have much of a problem to be adopted at a later stage. Why not adopt a needy dog instead?

Very sadly, many people are not very receptive to mongrels. This is very upsetting as because of the narrow-minded thinking, the more luckier mongrels are being put to the shelter and others send to SPCA or caught by AVA to be euthanize. Many has been blinded with the fact that all pure-breeds now were of mongrels years back before the tailor-made purebreed dog that you get today. Having a mongrel doesn't means the dog is more stupid or will love you lesser. In fact, mongrels are very smart, hardy and loyal dogs that are very appreciative of the loving roof that you given them.

Garrie was open to the idea and I really have to thank him for that. (Wow piang eh, he should had left the force long time back!!!)

Thus, we went to the EL who rents a shelter in Pasir Ris to view the Summer that she recommended. It was love at first sight. I was attracted by Summer who was so beautiful and tame. She was so shy and quiet in a corner.

Ironically enough, while we were in the shelter, EL received a call from her colleague about Kyle. The owner had finally decided to let go of the dog. We were in dilemma for a while but still decided to go ahead with Summer instead.

We picked Summer back the next day and that was it. She was very insecure and tried to run off a few times. That's pretty normal, imagine a kid going to a new place with new faces. Bought Summer to my MIL's place after 2 baths (as she was in the shelter for too long, she had a weird smell on her) and she still refused to drink nor eat. My MIL was so sweet as I saw her coaxing her with treats and even dip her own fingers into the water to "feed" her.

Summer had very bad diarrea when she came in and luckily I managed to take a day off to take care of her and pampered her with treats.

Now? She is like my bodyguard following everywhere in the house and love to ask for pats. Recently, she seems quite close with Garrie, keeping getting her face so near to him. Don't know to kiss him or what, hehehe.

I had a few strangers commenting that Summer is pretty and some don't believe that she is a mongrel. Well, most of the mongrels that I have seen are a lot more better-looking than pure-breeds anyway. So don't be so fast to show that disgusted shallow look with that eekkk sound to judge and deem all mongrels as ugly and dirty.

Summer gives in to Pepper a lot. Pepper being a spoilt little brat, tends to steal her treats and food. Summer just turn her head away when she does that. Naughty Pepper even barked at Summer when she tried to step inside the bedroom. hahaha

Despite being a very human dog, Pepper readily accepted Summer as her big sister. She knows that she is not being love any lesser as both Garrie and me still showered her with love and she gets to eat first and get the pats first whenever we come home.

I love you, Pepper! Not forgetting Summer as well.

That's all, folks! ^_^
